SERDANG – Universiti Putra Malaysia Alumni Day was celebrated today after two years of hiatus due to the COVID-19 outbreak. 21 May was gazetted at the University Management Committee as the university’s Alumni Day and various activities and programmes have been planned to foster the ties between alumni, staff, alma mater, and students.

Alumni and alma mater are capable of realising the university’s vision and mission, Alumni Relations Centre will always offer various activities and programmes involving alumni.

This year, to commemorate UPM Alumni Day, Alumni Sports Carnival took place from 21 to 22 May 2022. A total of six sports events were held to strengthen the ties and hence bring alumni to give back to alma mater.

At the opening ceremony of Universiti Putra Malaysia Alumni Day 21 May held at UniPutra Golf Club, the Director of Alumni Relations Centre, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arba’ie Sujud said that alumni are humbly welcome to contribute to the university especially scholarship funding for students.

“For 2022, Alumni Relations Centre has successfully accumulated 20 Alumni Scholarships including the Menteri Besar Selangor Scholarship and Nuaim Corporation. Alumni Relations Centre expresses its deepest gratitude to all alumni as you are the largest stakeholder in mutually supporting the university’s vision and mission.

Alumni Day 21 May which is celebrated annually is seen to support UPM Vice-Chancellor’s aspiration in Vice-Chancellor Narrative 2022 eleventh aspiration which is ‘to engage alumni for university sustainability’.

The involvement of alumni has benefited the students through Putra Cakna – Alumni Care: Heart to Heart (H2H) programme which has successfully contributed laptops to the asnaf and B40 students. The contribution of these laptops proved that alumni and university are concerned with the needs of the underprivileged students but are potentially for success.

Alumni Day which was officiated by YAM Tengku Syarif Laksamana Perlis Dato’ Seri DiRaja Syed Razlan Syed Putra Jamalullail hopes that Alumni Relations Centre will continue to be the catalyst in building a strong linkage between alumni and alma mater.
