SERDANG - The competition was held at UPM Experimental Theatre on 22 August 2023 for Program Semarak Merdeka 2023. This poem recitation competition is joined by 31 participants from 22 Responsibility Center (PTJ), 16 participants for the morning session and 15 for the evening session.

Every participant recites their poems with vigor and passion with different ways of approach in their own creativity to get the highest possible score. Every PTJ has brought along their supporters to make the competition more interesting and merrier. The Alumni Relations Center UPM (ARCUPM) was one of the PTJ organizations that sent two representatives to show their support for the program held by the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Cultural and Arts Center.

This competition turned even more special by the presence of Tuan Haji Ahmad Syukri Abdullah, Chief Assistant Director of the Development Sector of the Ministry of Education Malaysia presents as the jury for the competition which has been finished with prize giving ceremony by Dato’ Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, UPM Vice Chancellor.

Other activities held in conjunction with this program are Inter-PTJ Independence Day Choir competition, Inter-PTJ Kibar Jalur Gemilang competition and Inter-PTJ Independence Day Photography competition which was warmly accepted by all PTJs. 

UPM Program Semarak Merdeka 2023 is held for the whole August for 2023 Independence Day celebration with the theme “Malaysia Madani: Determination of Unity Fulfills Hope” to liven up the patriotism among UPM community.
